This session focuses on digital writing tools for projects and writing assignments. September 2022–Troubleshooting Student Technology Issues

Teachers serve many roles within their classrooms. Among those roles is that of technology guru. Often times when students have a problem with technology, their teacher is the first person to whom they go. This presentation details some of the most common student issues La Porte’s technology team sees and some easy fixes that might solve the problem quickly.

October 2022–Technology Tools for Vocabulary

If a student doesn’t learn the vocabulary for a specific content area, it becomes difficult for them to understand the content taught in that class. In this month’s Lightning PD session, we will look at some technology tools which students could use to practice, review, and become more familiar with vocabulary terms.

November 2022–Virtual Field Trips

Virtual field trips are a great way for students to explore the world without leaving the classroom. This month’s Lightning PD focuses on ways to implement virtual field trips into the classroom, ideas for assessment, and curated lists of places to which you and your students may want to travel.

January 2023–Graphic Organizers

There are many graphic organizer options available online. This month’s Lightning PD will highlight four sites where you can find graphic organizers to use with your students. We will also look at ways in which you can move from the traditional paper-and-pencil use of graphic organizers to having students complete and submit these digitally.

February 2023–LPH Library Digital Resources

Join Ms. Mills this month to learn about all the resources the LPH Library has to offer for your classes and content. Additional information can be found in her presentation.

March 2023–AI in Education

Artificial intelligence is in the news, and if it hasn’t already, it will soon be making its way into a classroom near you. In this month’s session, you will find resources to learn more about AI, see some examples of AI, and find ways to stay up-to-date on what’s happening with AI.

April/May 2023–Review and Make-Up Sessions

Lightning PD sessions in April and May will be used to review tools explored earlier in the year and make-up any sessions which were postponed for any reason.
